Period Empowerment for Girls and Women
R.E.D
A four-week journey to help girls and women Reclaim, Empower, and Deepen their relationship with the beauty and power of their menstrual cycles.
Let's learn to love our cycles.
Do you remember when you got your first period?
Who was there and how did they welcome this life-altering change in you? What instructions were you given, and how did you feel when you saw the bright bloom of red for the first time?
My first period came with an earthquake. Literally.
I was in 8th grade living in Northridge, California, and the morning after my period came, a 6.4 earthquake rocked our world leveling buildings, crumbling overpasses, and causing all manner of things to come crashing down.
Talk about a dramatic entry.
The onset of menstruation is indeed an earth-moving event. It’s an initiation into a whole new phase of one’s life.
When our periods come, we begin the crossover from childhood to adulthood. It’s a tender and beautiful threshold.
And yet, for so many of us, our periods are weighed down by negative messages.
At worst, we may feel debilitating shame around our blood. At best, it seems like just a necessary evil.
But what might it be like to not just tolerate our periods but to celebrate them?
Now that would be radical!
Our daughters deserve a better story than the ones we were given.
We want to live in a world where girls, women and menstruating people LOVE their bodies and appreciate their menstrual cycle.
We want people to feel empowered and confident in the beauty of who they are as cyclical beings.
The menstrual cycle is a beautiful rhythm that mirrors the rhythms of the earth–the cycles of the moon, the tides of the ocean, the seasons of the year, and the rise and fall of every breath.
We want girls, women and menstruating people to feel connected through their own cyclical bodies to these beautiful cycles of life on our planet
Give your daughter a new story
When it comes to menstruation, it’s time to tell a new story. One that helps your child step into the beauty and power of their cyclical body.
